Our standards
Our editorial policy explains how BasinVerdict stays independent, how every page is researched and written, and how we fix mistakes.
You may spend $200 to $1,000 or more on a kitchen sink based on what you read here. That's a real decision, so you deserve to know the rules we follow before you trust a single recommendation.
Independence: The Core of Our Editorial Policy
We decide what to recommend, and no brand, retailer or manufacturer can change that. We earn money through Amazon affiliate links, which our affiliate disclosure explains in full, but how much we might earn never decides which sink ranks first.
We will
- Rank sinks only on our scoring factors
- Name a sink's weaknesses, even on our top picks
- Say so in the review if a brand ever sends us a free sample
We won't
- Accept payment to include, rank or review a sink
- Let brands read or approve a review before it goes live
- Publish sponsored posts dressed up as reviews
How Pages Are Researched and Written
Every page starts with research and ends with a human check of every number. We use AI tools to help draft and organize some pages, and our editor rewrites, fact-checks and approves every one before it's published.
Research
We gather specs and installation manuals for each sink, including gauge, bowl depth and minimum base cabinet size.
Owner feedback
We look for problems that repeat across many owner reviews, not one-off complaints.
Draft
We write the page, sometimes with AI help to structure it and speed up the first draft.
Edit and fact-check
Our editor checks every measurement against its source and rewrites anything unclear before publishing.
| Task | Who does it | How it's checked |
|---|---|---|
| Choosing products | Our editor | Against our scoring factors only |
| Specs and measurements | Our editor | Matched to the manufacturer's listing or manual |
| First draft | Our editor, sometimes with AI help | Rewritten and edited by a human |
| Final approval | Our editor | Nothing goes live without it |
Our full scoring method is on our how we test and review sinks page.
Updates and Corrections
We review every buying guide at least once every 6 months and fix confirmed errors as soon as we verify them. Each page shows the date it was last checked.
| Type of change | What we do | Noted on the page? |
|---|---|---|
| Typo or wording | Fix it | No |
| Wrong spec or measurement | Fix it and recheck the source | Yes, with a correction note |
| New or changed pick | Update the guide and its date | Yes, with an update note |
| Discontinued sink | Replace or remove it | Yes, with an update note |
Why it matters: a wrong bowl depth or minimum base cabinet size can mean a sink that doesn't fit. That's why spec errors always get a visible correction note.
