Who's behind the reviews
This page is about BasinVerdict: who runs it, why we focus on kitchen sinks, and how we decide what to recommend.
A kitchen sink is a 20-year purchase that's hard to undo once the countertop is cut. Before you trust our advice on one, you should know who is giving it, how we research every sink, and how this site earns money. Here's the full picture, with nothing hidden.
About BasinVerdict: Who We Are
BasinVerdict is an independent kitchen sink review site founded and run by Yousaf. It is a small, independent site, not a brand, a retailer or a manufacturer, and no sink company owns any part of it.
Why we started BasinVerdict: most sink roundups list the same popular models without telling you whether they fit your base cabinet, your countertop or your cooking. We built this site to answer those questions first, with real measurements, so you can buy the right sink once.
What We Cover
We cover kitchen sinks from every angle a buyer needs: style, material, size and brand. Each guide ends with a clear recommendation and tells you who should skip it.
Types
Every sink style
Undermount, drop-in (top-mount), farmhouse (apron-front) and workstation sinks.
Materials
What it's made of
Stainless steel, granite composite, fireclay and cast iron, compared on wear and noise.
Sizes
Fit and dimensions
Length, width, bowl depth and the minimum base cabinet size each sink needs.
Brands
Who makes them
Warranties, steel quality and value across the makers you'll see most often.
Coming later: once our kitchen sink guides are complete, we'll expand to bathroom sinks and faucets using the same research process.
How We Research and Test
Every sink we recommend goes through the same three-step process. Our full method, including how we score each sink, is on our how we test and review sinks page.
Check the specs
We confirm steel gauge, bowl depth, overall size and drain placement from the manufacturer's own listing.
Read owner feedback
We look for problems that only show up after months of use, like scratching, rust spots or loose mounting clips.
Weigh price vs warranty
We compare what you pay against build quality and how long the maker stands behind the sink.
| What we check | What we look for | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Steel gauge | 16-gauge or 18-gauge | Thicker steel dents less and stays quieter |
| Steel grade | T304 (18/10) stainless steel | Resists rust and staining |
| Bowl depth | 8 to 10 inches | Fits stockpots without crowding the garbage disposal |
| Cabinet fit | Minimum base cabinet size | A 33-inch sink usually needs a 36-inch base cabinet |
| Noise control | Sound-dampening pads and undercoating | Cuts drumming from water and dishes |
| Warranty | Length and what it covers | Shows how much the maker trusts its sink |
